Orrtanna Route 2, Sept 10--Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Toot, of Chambersburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Carson, of Caledonia Park were recent visitors at the home of John Irvin.
Some person or persons shot and killed one of John Irvin's heifers on the Beamer field. They took the hind quarters, leaving the rest to decay.
The implication is that while a couple of the Irvin's guests (probably his married daughters and their families) were visiting, someone killed one their cows. And interestingly, the cow was on the field of his wife's family--they obviously live nearby.
